Frequently asked questions
We pride ourselves on transparency and clarity. Here you'll find detailed answers to common inquiries, ensuring you have all the information you need to partner with Anchor Freights for your medical logistics requirements.
What are the most common questions people ask you about your courier services?
"Are your drivers HIPAA and OSHA certified?"
Yes, every Anchor Freights courier undergoes annual certification in HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) safety protocols.
"How do you maintain the 'Cold Chain' during transport?"
We use medical-grade, validated insulated containers and Phase Change Materials (PCM) to maintain strict temperature ranges (Frozen, Refrigerated, or Ambient). We can also provide digital temperature logs upon request.
"Can I track my delivery in real-time?"
Absolutely. Our platform provides real-time GPS tracking and milestone notifications (Pickup, In-Transit, Arrived) sent directly to your email or phone.
"What is your 'Chain of Custody' process?"
We use a digital 'handshake' at every transfer point. We scan the specimen barcode and capture a time-stamped signature from the specific person receiving the item at the lab.
"Do you offer 24/7 or weekend 'STAT' services?"
Yes. Anchor Freights is an 'always-on' service. We provide 24/7/365 coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for both scheduled routes and emergency on-call pickups.
"Are you insured for medical-specific risks?"
We carry specialized professional liability and cargo insurance specifically tailored for the high-value and sensitive nature of medical specimens and equipment.
What are the most important things you want customers to know about how Anchor Freights handles sensitive medical items?
When transporting sensitive medical items, Anchor Freights prioritizes unparalleled safety, meticulous temperature control, and a rigorous chain of custody. Our couriers are certified in HIPAA and BBP safety, and we utilize validated containers with PCM to ensure integrity. Real-time tracking provides complete visibility, and every transfer point involves a digital 'handshake' to guarantee accountability for your valuable specimens and pharmaceuticals.
What's the easiest way for a new customer to start using Anchor Freights for their delivery needs?
Getting started with Anchor Freights is simple. We begin with a New Client Intake process to understand your specific needs. This involves gathering your facility and contact information, outlining service level requirements (STAT, Routed, On-Demand), identifying cargo and temperature specifications (e.g., lab specimens, vaccines; ambient, refrigerated, frozen), and detailing destination and delivery protocols. We also clarify compliance needs like HIPAA/BAA and billing preferences. Our team will then set up your account, assign drivers/routes, and provide portal access. You can reach out to us at [[phonenumber]] or [[email]] to begin the process.
Are there any types of items or situations that Anchor Freights doesn't handle or transport?
To maintain our specialized expertise and ensure safety, Anchor Freights has specific exclusions:
High-risk pathogens (Category A infectious substances)
We focus on 'Category B' substances (routine diagnostic samples like blood, urine, and biopsies). We do not transport high-risk Category A pathogens, such as Ebola virus or Anthrax cultures, which require specialized government-cleared transport.
Hazardous waste
We are not a medical waste disposal service and do not transport used 'sharps' containers, red-bagged waste, or chemical waste from hospitals for the purpose of disposal.
Patient transportation (NEMT)
Anchor Freights is a cargo-only medical courier; we do not provide Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) for people. Our vehicles are optimized for climate-controlled specimens and equipment, not passenger transport.
Non-medical hazardous materials (HazMat)
Unless the item is directly related to medical treatment or diagnostics, we do not handle general hazardous materials (e.g., industrial chemicals, explosives, or flammable gases not intended for medical use).
Unpackaged or improperly labeled items
To protect the 'Chain of Custody' and driver safety, we cannot accept items that do not meet OSHA/DOT packaging standards. If a specimen is leaking or if the outer packaging is missing the required UN3373 (Biological Substance, Category B) label, we will pause the pickup until the facility properly secures and labels the item.
Residential pickups (Without consent)
For privacy and legal reasons, we do not pick up specimens from a private residence unless there is a formal agreement with a medical facility or laboratory, such as a pre-arranged "Home Health" service contract with a clinical partner.
Why do we have these exclusions?
Safety First: By focusing on specific medical categories, our drivers can be master-certified in the risks associated with your cargo. Compliance: Staying within our specialized "Category B" and "DME" (Durable Medical Equipment) niche ensures we remain 100% compliant with DOT and OSHA regulations. Efficiency: Specialization allows us to maintain the 36°F to 46°F cold chain more effectively than a general "everything" courier.
